About Us
Buddy Nelms an entrepreneur with a musical vision – that vision, started with The Loft almost twenty years ago, was to bring great artists and their music to Columbus. Buddy knew that music moves our spirit in a way that few other things do, and he wanted to make a special venue dedicated to and for artists. And he sought out those artists from all over the world – from Train to Shawn Mullins, and from Rock, to Soul, to Country. Buddy has made a real difference in the music scene in Columbus and formed a world class listening venue in the process. He also created The Studio @ The Loft that has become known as one of the finest musicians recording studios in the nation. Many famous bands have recorded at The Studio – but what makes it special is that it captures some of the basic essence of people of Columbus. Like many Southern towns, Columbus has a musical flavor all its own and promoting and capturing that “local music” is one of Buddy’s greatest joys.
Downstairs @ the Loft opened in January of 2010 and in just a few months was one of the top ten restaurants in Columbus. The always changing menu challenges the taste buds so come visit downtown Columbus and enjoy a exceptional night out with friends or that special someone and visit Downstairs @ The Loft for a great meal and then go upstairs and hear some great music to stir you soul.
